Writing Activity on Poems.

This is a short poem written by me, I have taken LOTS of thought into it, I hope you can understand it!

A murmur rose,soft,probing
Inconsequential,ephemeral,
Gossamers of words,insubstantial,
drifted like leaves at autumn's end

The tree stood silently
the girth a testimony.
Wise, prescient, in the midst
Enduring, resolute.

Glancing intimidating eyes,
darting around vigilantly.
Observant as eagles,
ready to pounce on their prey.

The icicle meets in the
brilliance of the light.
The nesting in spring,
A new season begins.

I hope you will like my poem as I had really thought hard into it!

Figurative Language.

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I think that this poem uses the figurative language term of hyperbole. Hyperbole in a concise definition, is an exaggerated statement. The poet uses "I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me." The repetition of it are all exaggerations of how phenomenal the woman is. It creates an overly phenomenal emphasis, and shows the reader the extent to which it has become.

I like this poem because of the repetitive use of "I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal, That's me." It really does show how phenomenal the woman is, as explained from the detailed lyrics above. This hyperbole just emphasises more on the phenomenal woman, as portrayed in the lyrics above. It creates a sense that the woman acknowledges that she is phenomenal and thus is very interesting. The lyrics are organized, well-written and I like this poem very much.

My favourite soccer team is....AC MILAN!

Associazione Calcio Milan, commonly referred to as A.C. Milan and as just Milan in Italy, is an Italian professional football club based in Milan, Lombardy. The club was founded in 1899 by English lace-maker Herbert Kilpin, Alfred Edwards, and four other Englishmen, and has since spent most of its history in the top flight of Italian football, having spent only two years in Serie B in the eighties. They have won several cups, and holds the record for holding 18 recognized FIFA titles. They have won some of the most prestigious teams in the world and is also counted as one of the best teams in the world. I will continue to support them and watch them defeat well known teams like Chelsea and Arsenal.

Interesting Facts About Animals!!

Did you know that Mosquitoes have 47 teeth?
Did you know that a snail's reproductive organs are in its head?
Did you know that Emus can't walk backwards?
In a fight between a polar bear and a lion, the polar bear will win!
Amazing facts right? Well, I read them up in a book and decided to post it to enlighten you more about animals all around us. It is so fascinating to see that animals have such distinctive and interesting facts! While I was reading this book, I went "Wow" everytime I see extremely eye opening facts. Intra-personal( Who would you want to be friends with in Flowers For Algernon. ( Explain Why)

I would want to be friends with Charlie Gordon. He is a friendly person, and is also willing to have friends. Charlie Gordon had an IQ of 68, thus he has no true friends and I would want to be his true friend. I do not like people pretending to be his friend and then make fun of him and hurting him. I would want to be his friend in order to protect him from bullies. I would also want to be like Miss Kinnian , as she is willing to teach Charlie from the heart. Charlie Gordon is a caring person and I feel that he should have more true friends to pick him up whenever he falls. He is also a very hardworking person as he is willing to practise hard and remember everything he had learned. I admire his good points and would also want to learn from him.

Cross Country!

On 24/2/10, it was the annual Cross Country run for HCI, everyone has to run a long distance or either 3km or 4km. It was in the early morning, at around 8am when we started the cross country run. Even the teachers had to run! We were all energized and all ready to start. Before the run, we did our warm up. Our warm up comprises of exercises which really stretch our muscles and get us all ready for the run. When we, Sec 1, started the run, we were all exuberant with smiles all over our faces. While I ran, I conserved precious stamina for later on. In addition, I ran with friends, thus making the run more lively and less boring.

Halfway through the run, I felt my stamina dropping, my legs wobbling. However, I told myself many times not to stop and to keep running on. Upon reaching the last 100metres, the crowd was cheering wildly for me, as I felt a strong urge to sprint at top speed towards the much awaited finish line. As I sprinted, I heard the screams and cheers from the crowd, it was fantastic motivation.

I feel that the school should have more cross country runs in a year, maybe biannually. This is to build up the perseverance in all of us, and the never-give-up attitude. The run was however tiring, but absolutely fruitful and enriching too.
